FC Bayern has several contract negotiations coming up this summer. The club is set to extend the contracts of Michael Olise and Harry Kane. It now appears that a deal with another player will be finalized shortly.
That player is Arijon Ibrahimovic, who was on loan to 1. FC Heidenheim last season and made a name for himself there.
Most recently, he has been linked to a move within the Bundesliga. Several clubs, including Werder Bremen, had expressed interest.
Kompany convinces Ibrahimovic
But now, as Transfermarkt reports, the player is said to be on the verge of signing. And there’s a specific reason for that.
According to TM, coach Vincent Kompany has now presented Ibrahimovic with a clear path forward. The Belgian was able to convince his protégé to sign and stay during a lengthy one-on-one conversation.
Ibrahimovic is an offensive all-rounder who can fill multiple roles. That likely proved to be the deciding factor for FC Bayern in the end. In addition, he has continued to develop both his soccer skills and himself personally during his loan stint at Heidenheim.
It’s not surprising, however, that the player himself wanted to wait and see how things developed and didn’t want to commit to a long-term deal. That’s why the new contract is set to run through the summer of 2028.
Nevertheless, Ibrahimovic now has the time to showcase his abilities and prove himself at Bayern, and the record champions are under no pressure. If the attacking player doesn’t develop perfectly or ends up with too little playing time overall, he’ll simply be put on the market in the summer of 2027.
There are always interested parties for a player with his profile and quality. However, given Bayern’s relatively small roster, he has a good opportunity for now to get regular playing time in the Bundesliga.
