FC Bayern has been heavily linked with Nathan De Cat in recent months. According to the latest reports, the Munich club has decided to withdraw from the race to sign the talented Belgian midfielder.
Nathan De Cat has repeatedly been considered a potential candidate for FC Bayern in recent months. However, it now appears that the German record champions will not be taking any further concrete steps.
As reported by Sky, FC Bayern officials have decided, following internal analyses, to refrain from signing the 17-year-old. This marks the end of Munich’s interest.
Hoffenheim set to secure the deal
TSG Hoffenheim stands to benefit most from Bayern’s decision. The Kraichgau-based club has been stepping up its efforts to sign the Belgian youth international for some time now and is reportedly in principle agreement with De Cat on a contract running through 2031.
Now that FC Bayern, their financially strongest competitor, has dropped out of the race, Hoffenheim is focusing on final negotiations with RSC Anderlecht regarding the transfer fee.
Bayern is setting other priorities
Bayern’s decision against a transfer is likely also related to its current strategy in the transfer market.
They have already signed a new attacking player in Ismael Saibari, and Nathaniel Brown is on the verge of joining the club in Munich. At the same time, club officials are exploring further options for the defense.
In the youth sector, however, the record champions appear to have internally closed the book on the De Cat case. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, there are currently strong indications that the Belgian talent will play for TSG Hoffenheim in the future.
