FC Bayern crowned the season with the domestic double. Even if they failed to win the Champions League, the German record champions can look back on an impressive season
The semi-final of the premier class was the end of the line against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, but Vincent Kompany’s team impressively proved in the 2025-16 season that they are once again one of the absolute top teams in Europe
The path to the double was marked by numerous records and bests, with Munich setting standards that have never before been achieved in the Bundesliga, particularly in attack
Bayern regularly thrilled their fans with spectacular attacking soccer and also provided several memorable European Cup evenings internationally. The season may not have been historic in terms of the treble, but it was certainly historic in terms of the numbers
Kompany’s offense makes history
Bayern’s showpiece was clearly their offense. With 122 goals, the record champions pulverized the previous Bundesliga goal record from the 1971/72 season, when Munich scored 101 goals
Not only did Bayern set a new record in Germany, but no team from Europe’s top five leagues has scored more goals in a league season since AC Torino in the 1947/48 season
The figures were also impressive across all competitions, with Kompany’s side scoring at least once in all 55 competitive matches – a feat previously only achieved in the 2020/21 six-tuple season under Hansi Flick
In total, FC Bayern scored an incredible 184 goals in competitive matches. By comparison, FC Barcelona was the next-best team with 144 goals. Munich’s attack was therefore well ahead of the competition
Bayern also dominated the Bundesliga itself almost at will. The record champions have been at the top of the table without interruption for 66 matchdays now. The last time a different team led the league was on matchday 2 of the 2024/25 season with 1. FC Heidenheim
Bayern mentality and Kompany’s Joker record
In addition to their class as players, Bayern also impressed with their mentality. After falling behind, the Munich side picked up a total of 29 points and turned eight games around to win. Only Bayer Leverkusen in the 1999/2000 season had previously achieved this in Bundesliga history
Kompany also proved to have a golden touch on several occasions. Bayern jokers scored 20 goals in the past Bundesliga season – a new league record
Ten different teenagers made appearances in the Bundesliga. Only FC Schalke 04 in the 1980/81 season had a comparable youth course in Bundesliga history
Individually, the attacking trio of Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Díaz stood out. In the league alone, the three stars combined for 100 goals. Kane contributed 41 scoring points, Olise 34 and Díaz 29
With 36 Bundesliga goals, Kane not only became Germany’s top scorer, but also Europe’s top scorer. The Englishman is also the first player in history to win the top scorer’s crown in each of his first three Bundesliga seasons.
