FC Bayern may not have won the Champions League again, but two of Munich’s top performers have been rewarded for their strong showings on Europe’s biggest stage. Harry Kane and Michael Olise have been named in the official UEFA team for the 2025/26 Champions League season
The European Football Union published its best eleven of the past premier class season on Sunday. After Paris Saint-Germain’s title win, it is hardly surprising that the French side make up the majority of the team with a total of five players. However, FC Bayern is also prominently represented
Kane confirms his world-class status
Harry Kane was once again one of the outstanding players in the Champions League. The Englishman scored 14 goals in 13 games, making him Bayern’s most successful goalscorer on the international stage
Only Kylian Mbappé surpassed this mark with 15 goals for Real Madrid. Nevertheless, Kane was named by UEFA in the attacking line-up of the Eleven of the Year, where he forms the attacking duo together with PSG star Ousmane Dembélé
For Kane, the nomination is the next accolade after an outstanding season in which he led FC Bayern to the double with a total of 61 goals
Olise is one of Europe’s elite
Alongside Kane, Michael Olise also made it into the prestigious selection
The Frenchman played his strongest season to date at the highest level and developed into one of the record champions‘ most important attacking players under Vincent Kompany, displacing numerous prominent rivals on the right wing of the UEFA squad
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was the player of the season on the left wing. The PSG star impressed with a total of 17 scoring points and played a key role in the French side’s renewed triumph
PSG dominate the selection
A total of five players in the eleven of the year came from Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain. In addition to Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia and Vitinha, Nuno Mendes and Marquinhos were also honored
FC Arsenal’s David Raya, Gabriel and Declan Rice made up three players, while Atlético Madrid’s Marcos Llorente completed the team
In addition to the team of the year, UEFA also honored the biggest surprise of the season, which went to Arda Güler of Real Madrid
The Turkish international played 14 Champions League games, scored two goals and set up four others, with his strong performance against FC Bayern in the quarter-finals particularly memorable, when he scored a brace in a spectacular 4:3 win in the second leg
Despite the individual honours, the Munich side were left with the realisation that their big dream of winning the Champions League remained unfulfilled, but the awards for Kane and Olise are impressive proof that FC Bayern once again provided numerous players in Europe’s absolute elite in 2025/26.
