FC Bayern are working flat out on their squad for the coming season – and could take an unusual route in the process. According to the latest reports, the Munich club are considering a spectacular swap deal with Newcastle United, with Anthony Gordon and Alexander Nübel at the center of attention
Anthony Gordon is still regarded as the player of choice for the attack and the England international is said to be open to a move to FC Bayern
However, the big problem remains the transfer fee. According to consistent media reports, Newcastle United are demanding more than 80 million euros for the 25-year-old – a sum that Bayern are currently neither willing nor able to pay
That is why those responsible around Max Eberl are apparently looking for alternative solutions
Nübel could be the key

As BILD head of soccer Christian Falk reports, there is currently an internal discussion between the two clubs, according to which Alexander Nübel could be involved in a possible deal
Background: Newcastle are apparently looking for a new goalkeeper and are said to be interested in the Bayern keeper. „There are so-called swap deals,“ says Falk
The idea behind it: Newcastle would sell Gordon at a lower price, while Bayern would transfer Nübel in return
Such a model would have several advantages for the record champions. On the one hand, they would get the well-earning Nübel off their payroll for good. On the other hand, the transfer fee for Gordon could be significantly reduced
Nübel no longer plays a role in Munich’s plans and is due to leave the club in the summer. Internally, Bayern are apparently hoping to raise around €20 million by selling Nübel. This could theoretically reduce Gordon’s transfer fee to around €60 to 65 million – a range that seems much more realistic at Säbener Straße
Gordon remains the preferred solution for the offense
The English winger fits perfectly into the profile Bayern are looking for. Gordon brings pace, intensity and enormous dynamism to the table and is also considered to be flexible. Vincent Kompany in particular is said to think highly of the attacking player
However, it is also clear that, according to Falk, there are no concrete negotiations at the moment, but rather a mind game on both sides
Nevertheless, the development clearly shows how creative Bayern have to be this summer
Sales and possible swap models are likely to play a decisive role, especially when it comes to high-priced players.
