The disappointment after missing out on a place in the Champions League final runs deep at FC Bayern. Nevertheless, the fighting spirit prevailed again immediately after the semi-final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Vincent Kompany, Joshua Kimmich and Manuel Neuer quickly turned their attention to the future – and formulated clear goals for the future
The 1:1 in the second leg against PSG was not enough for Munich to reach the final in Budapest after the 4:5 in the first leg. Nevertheless, Vincent Kompany was remarkably combative shortly after the elimination
„The team knows me. I don’t have the ability to be disappointed for long. I’m already motivated for next season,“ explained the Bayern coach after the game
The Belgian made it clear that he sees FC Bayern on a very good path despite the elimination. At the same time, however, Kompany also knows how difficult it is to win the Champions League. „I know how difficult it is to win this prize,“ said the 40-year-old
As he did immediately after the final whistle, the Bayern coach again spoke about what he saw as several crucial scenes in the game, in particular the yellow card that was not given to PSG defender Nuno Mendes and the discussions surrounding João Neves‘ handball
He hoped that such „details“ would work in FC Bayern’s favour in the future. Nevertheless, the Belgian was keen to acknowledge his opponents‘ performance. „I don’t want to take anything away from Paris, they’re a top team,“ Kompany emphasised
The coach also clearly formulated the long-term objective. After the quarter-finals in 2025 and the semi-finals in 2026, the next step is now to follow. „I am convinced that we will manage to take another step next season. That is also my job,“ explained Kompany
Kimmich and Neuer continue to believe in major titles

Despite the huge disappointment, Joshua Kimmich was also convinced of the path he has taken. The national team captain still sees enormous potential in the current Bayern squad
„I don’t believe that this will somehow knock us down or throw us off course,“ explained the midfielder
His assessment of the team’s quality was particularly remarkable: „I’m sitting there in the dressing room and I have the feeling that I can still win the Champions League with this team,“ said Kimmich
Above all, there is great confidence in coach Vincent Kompany and the development within the team. „I have confidence in the team, in the coach, that something is really growing together,“ explained the 31-year-old
„We will focus on that“
Head of Sport Max Eberl also said that FC Bayern are still in a development process. „Winning a major title like this is also a bit of a journey,“ said the Bayern boss
Despite the bitter elimination, the season is not yet over for the Munich side, however. Having already won the league title, FC Bayern still have the chance to win the double in the DFB Cup final against VfB Stuttgart on 23 May
Manuel Neuer therefore made it clear what the focus is now on: „It’s great that we have this final. This is the possible double win. We will concentrate on that,“ explained the Bayern captain.
