The contract talks between FC Bayern and Konrad Laimer are proving to be difficult – a tough poker game is looming
FC Bayern’s contract poker over Konrad Laimer continues to come to a head, with sporting director Max Eberl recently suggesting that the two sides are still far apart in the talks. Now transfer insider Florian Plettenberg has provided new details on the complicated situation
As Plettenberg explained on Sky, the main issue is financial differences: „He already earns more than 10 million in a perfect season. His demands are at least 15 million. Bayern won’t go along with that. If they do, then Laimer will have to move towards Bayern. It’s going to be tough poker.“
This confirms the trend of recent weeks: Munich are not prepared to meet the Austrian’s high salary demands without further ado. The club is apparently pursuing a clear line and does not want to be put under pressure in the negotiations
Laimer makes high demands for Bayern extension
Another of Plettenberg’s assessments is explosive: „The possibility that Laimer will not be extended in order to set an example is definitely there.“ Such a scenario would show that Bayern consistently enforce their salary structure – even with important players
Despite the tough stance, those responsible are aware of Laimer’s value to the team: „But they also know what they have in Laimer, because he is still one of the best full-backs in Europe,“ emphasized Plettenberg

The 28-year-old’s contract runs until 2027, so there is no acute time pressure, but the poker game is likely to intensify in the coming months
Both sides will have to make significant progress if an extension is to be agreed, otherwise Laimer could even become a candidate for departure in the medium term – despite his sporting importance for FC Bayern.
