FC Bayern is facing an unusual challenge for the Champions League match against Atalanta Bergamo: a new warning strike on Munich’s public transport system could make traveling to the Allianz Arena much more difficult
The second leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie between FC Bayern and Atalanta Bergamo could cause new problems for fans. The trade union Verdi has announced warning strikes on public transport for Wednesday from 11 a.m. and Thursday
For many supporters of the record champions, this means that travel to the Allianz Arena could become much more complicated. In Munich, the majority of subway trains, streetcars and buses are likely to be suspended during the strike
This would particularly affect the important connection to the Allianz Arena, as many fans normally travel to Fröttmaning on the U6 subway line – the most important route to the stadium
Fans must expect restrictions
The match against Atalanta Bergamo will kick off on Wednesday evening at 9 p.m. Thousands of Bayern fans and numerous guests from Italy are expected at the Allianz Arena
Due to the strike, however, many spectators may be forced to use alternative means of transport, which means longer travel times for many fans or significantly more complicated planning for their visit to the stadium

During an earlier warning strike at the beginning of February, the Munich transport company had already tried to keep at least some of the traffic running, when the U6 underground line was operated at close intervals to the Allianz Arena before FC Bayern’s cup match against RB Leipzig
Whether there will be a similar solution this time is still unclear
The record champions had already won the first leg in Bergamo in Italy by a clear 6:1. Whether the local transport strike will make it more difficult for many fans to travel to the second leg will probably only become clear in the short term
UPDATE from March 17, 2026: An emergency solution to the situation surrounding the strike was found on Tuesday. Here you can find information on how fans can get to the Allianz Arena for the match against Bergamo using public transport.
