FC Bayern currently has two of the most prolific attacking players in world soccer. A new analysis by the CIES Football Observatory shows that Harry Kane and Michael Olise have been among the most effective players in the world over the past twelve months
In a recent study, the CIES Football Observatory examined which players have scored or set up the most goals in the last twelve months in a total of 67 leagues worldwide. The analysis is based on so-called G+A values, i.e. combined goal and assist figures
In purely statistical terms, Lionel Messi is at the top of the rankings. The Argentinian scored an impressive 59 direct goals for Inter Miami – 37 goals and 22 assists. This puts the world champion a full 17 scoring points ahead of the player in second place
Kane and Olise among the world leaders
Messi is followed directly by several of the absolute top stars in world soccer – including two FC Bayern players. Harry Kane takes second place in the ranking with 42 scorer points (35 goals and seven assists). Kylian Mbappé follows close behind with 41 goal contributions
Alongside Kane, Michael Olise also appears in the top group of the list, with the French attacking player scoring a total of 36 direct goals, including a remarkable 22 assists – a figure that is among the highest number of assists in the world
This makes the Bayern duo some of the most offensively productive players in international soccer
Weighted ranking confirms Messi’s dominance
The CIES also weighted the figures according to the strength of the respective competitions, multiplying the goal contributions by the sporting coefficient of the respective matches
In this calculation, Lionel Messi remains at the top with a value of 66.3, followed by Mbappé (65.4) and Bayern striker Harry Kane (64.5). Michael Olise is also at the top of the analysis with an index value of 54.9
The study thus clearly shows the influence both Bayern players have on Munich’s attacking play
