Harry Kane has worked very hard in the first two games of the new season and helped his team, but he hasn’t scored himself yet. The fact that this is already a topic of discussion after just two games only underscores how well Kane has performed during his time at Bayern.
So can we already say the Englishman is in a scoring slump? No, because despite not scoring any goals so far, Kane has been incredibly important to Bayern. He’s initiated numerous attacks and set up his teammates on offense.
Especially in the Bundesliga opener against Stuttgart (5–1), the Englishman initiated so many attacks and constantly drew his opponents out of their defensive positions that it served as a means to an end.
Effenberg is relaxed about Kane
So could it be that Kane will once again take on a playmaker role more often this season, especially against teams that play man-to-man defense? Perhaps. But his scoring rate will likely remain unchanged, as expert Stefan Effenberg recently explained on Sport1 ’s “Doppelpass.”
“He has a style of play where he also picks up the ball from deep. But that’s also a tactic—it opens up space for Michael Olise, Luis Díaz, or Nathaniel Brown,” Effenberg explained once again. That worked brilliantly against Stuttgart, though it meant he found himself in scoring positions less often. However, there will also be plenty of games where opponents sit deeper, Bayern is awarded penalties, or he himself can get a shot off on the counterattack.
That’s why Effenberg is certain: “He’ll reach his goal total; overall, I think he’ll score more than 30 this season.” By that, the expert means goals in the Bundesliga. In 2025–26, Kane scored a total of 61 goals for Bayern in all competitive matches. Whether that number can be matched again remains to be seen.
