Following the contract extensions of Serge Gnabry and Dayot Upamecano, FC Bayern are already planning for the coming season – and it could be a tough one. Despite important signings, there could be a major personnel shake-up in the summer. Several professionals are facing an uncertain future, and one departure has already been decided
One thing is certain: Leon Goretzka will leave the record champions after eight years. The midfielder is looking for a new challenge in the summer, with the Premier League the most likely destination. Arsenal have been linked with him for months, while AC Milan and Atlético Madrid have also been mentioned recently
But that’s not all: there is also a big question mark over Raphaël Guerreiro’s future. The Portuguese’s contract is due to expire and there is currently no extension in sight. Internally, his role is being re-evaluated, especially as he has not always been a starter recently. A move back to his home country, for example to Benfica Lisbon, is repeatedly speculated
Nicolas Jackson is also likely to leave the club. The striker will probably return to his parent club after his loan, as the rumoured purchase option of 65 million euros hardly seems realistic for Munich. He was unable to make a lasting impression during his time at FC Bayern
Question mark behind Sven Ulreich
With Sven Ulreich, much depends on Manuel Neuer’s decision. The stand-in keeper’s contract is coming to an end and his future is open. An extension as number two is conceivable, as is a move to another position within the club. His experience is still considered valuable – especially in view of the development of Jonas Urbig
Minjae Kim has also been talked about as a possible sales candidate for months. Although there have been no concrete offers to date, interest from the Premier League – including Chelsea and Tottenham – is said to exist. Internally, the club is prepared to listen to offers should an economically attractive bid be received
The biggest personnel issue, however, concerns Manuel Neuer himself. The 39-year-old is faced with the decision of whether to stay on for another year or end his career. He is still an important factor in sporting terms, but those responsible want to plan the goalkeeper’s future carefully. Urbig is a possible successor
Will Wisdom Mike be loaned out?
Talks regarding Konrad Laimer’s extension beyond 2027 have not yet been concluded either. Although an agreement is considered possible, negotiations are dragging on. If no solution is found, movement would also be conceivable here in the summer – even if a departure is not currently considered likely

There is also youngster Wisdom Mike, whose contract is set to be extended, but who will then be loaned out to give him more match practice. In purely formal terms, he would not be a permanent member of the professional squad for the time being
This makes the summer transfer window a real test for sporting director Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund. Several construction sites, numerous unresolved personnel issues and the need to combine sporting quality with economic rationality make planning complex. One thing is clear: despite recent contract extensions, the face of FC Bayern could change noticeably in the summer.
