FC Bayern are on the lookout for a new left winger, with Portugal star Francisco Trincao now the focus of their attention according to the latest reports
FC Bayern are pressing ahead with their squad planning for the coming summer – with a particular focus on the left side of the attack. While the Munich side are excellently positioned on the right with Michael Olise, Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry in terms of both quantity and quality, there is still a gap behind regular left-back Luis Díaz, where Vincent Kompany has so far lacked a reliable alternative to relieve or replace the Colombian
The record champions have long since decided internally that they want to add personnel in the summer. Two names in particular have recently been the subject of intense discussion: Said El Mala from 1. FC Köln and Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. However, both options are associated with considerable hurdles. El Mala is said to prefer a move to the Premier League, where clubs are more willing to pay the transfer fees demanded by Köln above the €40 million mark. For Diomande, on the other hand, RB Leipzig are reportedly asking for up to €100 million – a figure that is hardly feasible for Bayern
Sporting star Trincao moves into Bayern’s focus

Against this backdrop, a new, much more realistic track could now open up. As the Portuguese sports newspaper Record reports, Bayern are looking at Francisco Trincao of Sporting Lisbon. The 26-year-old had already been loosely linked with FCB at the end of last year and is now apparently once again coming into focus
Trincao is still under contract with Sporting until 2027 and, according to the Record, has a release clause of €60 million. However, this is well above his current market value, which is estimated at around €35 million – a point that could at least make potential negotiations conceivable
In sporting terms, the Portuguese international has an interesting profile. Trincao is an attacking all-rounder who can be deployed both on the wings and in the center. At Sporting, he mainly acts as a creative playmaker behind the strikers and has already scored a strong 22 goals in 32 competitive games this season – a figure that has also attracted international attention
Profile fits – position only to a limited extent
Trincao is not entirely new to European top-flight soccer. He moved from SC Braga to FC Barcelona for around €30 million back in 2020, but was unable to make a lasting impression there. After loan spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sporting, he moved to Lisbon permanently in 2023 for around €18 million – a move that has given his career a noticeable boost
Despite all his qualities, one crucial point remains unresolved: Trincao prefers to play on the right wing or in attacking midfield. This is precisely where Bayern are already strong, meaning his profile is only a limited fit for the vacant role as a classic left winger
Ultimately, Trincao remains an exciting, but by no means ideal solution. Should the market tighten further in the summer and other options not be financially viable, Bayern could still take a closer look. At the moment, however, there is more to suggest that Trincao’s name will remain more of a side note in the record champions‘ transfer considerations.
