FC Bayern continue to press ahead with their squad planning and have agreed a deal on deadline day, with one player leaving the record champions to join another Bundesliga club
According to information from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Munich have reached an agreement with 1. FC Köln for the transfer of Felipe Chavez. The Peruvian international will initially leave the record champions on loan
The transfer is on loan with an option to buy in favor of Cologne, while FC Bayern has secured a buy-back option in order to retain influence over the player’s sporting future in the event of a positive development
For Chavez, the move to Cologne means the chance of regular playing time in professional soccer. His prospects at FC Bayern have been limited recently, partly due to the strong competition and the clear squad structure under Vincent Kompany. In Cologne, the midfielder will now take the next step in his development and prove himself at a higher level

FC Bayern had already made other personnel decisions during the winter transfer period. Youngster Adin Licina moved to Juventus, Javier Fernandez was loaned out to 1. FC Nuremberg and a loan solution was found for Bryan Zaragoza with AS Roma, which also made economic sense for the Munich club
FC Bayern has been pursuing a clear policy for some time now, particularly in the youth and transitional areas. Talents should either be developed in a targeted manner or released early if there are no prospects – preferably with options to continue to benefit sportingly or financially. The loan of Chavez with a purchase and buy-back option fits into this pattern
For FC Köln, the deal is an interesting reinforcement with a manageable risk, while the door remains open for FC Bayern should Chavez make his breakthrough in Cologne.
