The future of Dayot Upamecano is still open. While FC Bayern is pushing for a quick decision, interest from abroad is increasing noticeably. Several European heavyweights are following developments closely.
According to information from TEAMtalk, the FC Bayern Munich centre-back is on the radar of numerous top clubs, with Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Inter Milan among those who have already held talks with the 27-year-old. Upamecano’s contract in Munich expires in the summer of 2026, but an extension has not yet been finalized.
The stance in Munich is clearly defined. Those responsible have signalled that the current offer is not indefinite and will only be valid for a limited period of time. Most recently, there was even talk of a deadline this Sunday. Although confidence remains high at Säbener Straße, the large number of interested parties is causing watchful eyes internally.
Eberl increases the pressure for a decision

After the 2:2 draw in Hamburg, sporting director Max Eberl publicly commented on the defender’s situation, making it clear that the club does not want to wait indefinitely: „How communication actually works internally is up to us. But it is also clear: a decision has to be made at some point.“ From Bayern’s point of view, it is about getting planning security in time.
Sporting director Christoph Freund also recently emphasised that the talks are nearing an end. „We have never given any status updates. We have always said that we are in good talks. There is no new status,“ explained the Austrian, but added: „That there will be a decision in the near future, that will be the case. But I am not going to talk about any deadlines now.“
