Serge Gnabry and FC Bayern are heading towards a shared future. Intensive negotiations have been taking place behind the scenes in recent weeks and the key points have now apparently been clarified.
Serge Gnabry’s contract expires on 30 June 2026 and both sides have recently been working on an extension. According to exclusive information from transfer insider Ekrem Konur, FC Bayern and the player’s side are close to a „complete agreement“, with the attacking player set to extend his contract by two years and remain in Munich until 2028.
The core of the agreement is an adjustment to the club’s new salary structure. In order to make the extension possible, the 30-year-old is said to have agreed to a reduction in his fixed salary. According to transfer insider Ekrem Konur, Gnabry will earn around €15 million per year in future, including performance-related bonuses, after his previous salary was just under €19 million. The contract is said to run until June 2028.
Interest from abroad – Bayern always a priority
Parallel to the talks, a possible move abroad was also briefly discussed recently. Tottenham Hotspur in particular were concerned with the German international’s situation and are said to have prepared an official offer, but did not make a move. After Gnabry clearly signalled that he saw his future in Munich, the corresponding mind games were ended. According to Sky, a move to the British capital was never an issue for Gnabry.
Other clubs from the Premier League and Serie A were also keeping a close eye on the situation after his strong start to the season, but without entering into concrete talks.
In sporting terms, Gnabry remains a permanent fixture. Under coach Vincent Kompany, the versatile attacking player is an important part of the rotation and brings experience to the team. With the impending extension, the record champions are creating clarity early on and avoiding the risk of losing an established key player on a free transfer in the summer.
