Minjae Kim has hardly played a role at FC Bayern this season. A move back to Serie A is conceivable, as a top Italian club now wants to get serious on the way to the title
With the signing of Jonathan Tah, Minjae Kim is now just the number three central defender at FC Bayern. He has only made eight appearances in the starting eleven for the record champions this season. The South Korean has only played 790 minutes in total – far too few for the man who was voted the best defender in Serie A before his move to Bayern in 2023
But that is exactly where Kim could now be heading back to, as the leaders of the Italian top flight apparently want to intensify their efforts to sign the centre-back. According to the Gazzetta dello Sport , AC Milan have identified Kim as one of the top candidates on the club’s own shortlist
The Bayern bosses are reportedly being offered a loan with an option to buy in the summer of 2026. The problem for Milan is that Kim’s salary demands could be too high. Overall, the Rossoneri’s budget is probably the sticking point in the deal, as the Italian newspaper reports
Kim wants to stay at Bayern
Despite his reserve role, Kim prefers to stay in the Bavarian capital. According to information from Sky, a winter transfer for Kim is currently out of the question. As the pay-TV channel confirmed, there have been several inquiries for the centre-back, but he himself has categorically rejected them to date. Accordingly, Kim has signalled that he wants to stay at FC Bayern until at least the summer – regardless of his role in the team
In contrast, the Munich club management would be quite prepared to let him go. The reason for this is his handsome salary of around 15 to 17 million euros. As he hardly plays a sporting role anymore, he has become far too expensive for the club. But without his consent, a winter departure remains unrealistic.
