New Bayern boss: Hoeneß played this role
FC Bayern is set to make a personnel change at board level at the beginning of January – and honorary president Uli Hoeneß, of all people, played a decisive role in the background. Rouven Kasper officially takes up his new post as board member for marketing and sales on 7 January. Now further details about the recall are becoming known.
According to Sport BILD, Hoeneß was heavily involved in the deal, with the long-standing Bayern president following Kasper’s development very closely after he left the club and moved to VfB Stuttgart. Together with president Herbert Heiner, Hoeneß is said to have finally arranged the 43-year-old’s return to Munich.
Interestingly, although Kasper still had a contract in Stuttgart until 2028, which was only extended last year, kicker reports that no traditional transfer fee was paid to VfB. Nevertheless, the Swabians are apparently not going away completely empty-handed. According to the report, there is a gentlemen’s agreement whereby a test match is to be played between FC Bayern and VfB Stuttgart, the proceeds of which will go to Stuttgart.
