FC Bayern Munich have completed their first transfer for the coming season, proving once again that the path they have taken in women’s soccer is a long-term one
The 17-year-old Kassandra Potsi will move from league rivals SGS Essen to the double winners in the summer of 2026 and sign a contract in Munich until June 30, 2029. Both clubs officially confirmed the transfer on Saturday
With the signing of the Germany U19 international, Bayern have secured one of the country’s most promising talents. Potsi is regarded as a modern attacking player with great pace, excellent technique and great intensity on the ball – a profile that fits in perfectly with the Munich side’s style of play
Bayern continues to focus on young quality

Those in charge at Säbener Straße have been emphasizing for some time that the long-term success of FC Bayern Women is based on a mixture of top international players and the targeted development of young talent. Kassandra Potsi is a prime example of this strategy. Despite her young age, she has already proven that she can hold her own at Bundesliga level
Francisco De Sá Fardilha, Technical Director of FC Bayern Women, had clear words to say about the signing: Potsi is „another outstanding example of the excellent work SGS Essen does with young talent“. He said that Bayern were particularly impressed by her speed, her technical strength on the ball and her determination when playing against the ball. Another decisive factor was that she had already proven her ability „even against top teams“
The early completion of the transfer is an important signal for the Munich club, who are setting the course for the future even before the current season is over – with a clear focus on development potential rather than short-term solutions
From SGS jewel to Bayern prospect
Kassandra Potsi made her competitive debut for SGS Essen in January 2024 and subsequently attracted attention with her courageous performances. The next big step followed at the end of November: her debut for the German U19 national team. Within a few months, the attacking player developed from a talented youngster into a permanent fixture in the extended circle of Germany’s top talents
The move to FC Bayern is now the logical next step in Potsi’s career. In Munich, she will find an environment that has proven in recent years how successfully young players can be carefully developed. The examples speak for themselves: numerous talented players were given responsibility at Bayern at an early stage and have developed into top performers at national and international level.
