FC Bayern must be especially careful with Joshua Kimmich during the crucial phase of preseason. The 31-year-old recently missed the friendly against Aston Villa due to adductor issues. It has now come to light that these are apparently not just short-term problems.
Bayern concluded their Asian tour with a 2-1 victory over reigning Europa League champion Aston Villa. In the first real test of their preseason, however, Vincent Kompany had to do without one of his most important players.
Kimmich was unavailable due to “minor adductor issues.” At first, it seemed like this was purely a precautionary measure. After the match, Kompany explained that the German international had already resumed training.
New information now suggests, however, that Munich will apparently have to be particularly cautious with Kimmich.

As reported by *kicker*, the midfielder has been dealing with discomfort in his adductor area since the World Cup. According to the report, Kimmich is currently not back to 100 percent.
This also explains why the club officials at Säbener Straße do not want to take any unnecessary risks at the moment. After all, there are just under two weeks left until the first competitive match of the new season.
“We’re trying to ensure that, in the short time we have left before the season starts, we don’t take any extreme risks with his situation,” Kompany explained.
Bayern wants to get Kimmich fit for the big match against BVB
A prolonged absence for the 31-year-old would be a bitter blow for Bayern, especially at the start of the season. Kimmich remains one of the most important players in Kompany’s system in central midfield.
Accordingly, the national team player’s workload is likely to be carefully managed in the coming days. Bayern currently has no reason to push Kimmich to his physical limits in a preseason match.
What matters most is that the midfield anchor is fully fit in time for the season’s first title showdown. On August 22, FC Bayern will face Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup. By then, Kimmich should be back to 100 percent if possible.
