FC Bayern have reached the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup after beating Union Berlin and their opponents have now been drawn
FC Bayern will face RB Leipzig at home in the cup quarter-finals, according to the draw at the German Football Museum in Dortmund, which was drawn by former Bundesliga player and coach Friedhelm Funkel
The four matches in the quarter-finals will be played on 3-4 and 10-11 February 2026, with the DFB yet to announce the exact date on which Bayern will play
So far this season, Bayern have always had to play away from home in the cup, but the top clash in the quarter-finals against Leipzig will take place at home in the Allianz Arena
In the first round of the DFB Cup, FC Bayern beat third-division side Wehen Wiesbaden 3:2 away from home. In the second round, coach Vincent Kompany’s team won 4:1 at 1. FC Köln. In the round of 16, FC Bayern once again faced a Bundesliga side, winning 3:2 at Union Berlin
FC Bayern wants to reach the DFB Cup final in Berlin
Bayern want to go to Berlin again this season: The German record cup winners have set their sights on reaching the final in the capital. The last time they reached the final in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium was in 2020, when they defeated Bayer Leverkusen 4:2 to lift the trophy for the 20th and last time in the club’s history
After that, Bayern did not progress further than the quarter-finals. The following season, they were eliminated in the second round by Holstein Kiel, then again in round two by Borussia Mönchengladbach. In the 2022/23 season, they lost to SC Freiburg in the quarter-finals. The following season, Bayern were embarrassed in the second round defeat at 1. FC Saarbrücken. In the last season, Munich suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Leverkusen in the round of 16.
