Jamal Musiala is working flat out on his comeback. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany is optimistic and reveals when the attacking star can be expected back.
FC Bayern can be hopeful: two key players are on their way back to team training and Kompany has now confirmed that Davies and Musiala could soon be back on the pitch.
Alphonso Davies is making good progress according to his coach. Vincent Kompany said at the press conference ahead of the southern clash against VfB Stuttgart that the Canadian is „very close“, even if he is not yet an option for the upcoming game against the Swabians. A brief appearance in the following home game against Mainz is a possibility. According to Kompany, a return to the squad for the Champions League away game in Lisbon is even conceivable – regardless of a possible appearance.
Musiala „a little further away than Alphonso“
Jamal Musiala will need a little more patience. The midfielder is still working individually on his comeback, which is not expected until the new year. „Jamal Musiala is still a little further away than Alphonso, but we are in good spirits. I hope he will still be training with us before Christmas. Then 2026 can be a good year for him,“ said Kompany about the 22-year-old, who suffered a serious injury at the Club World Cup in the summer.
Musiala has been consistently following his rehab program for several weeks now – most recently with special technical support: on Thursday, he completed a session with rehab coach Simon Martinello and a special machine called „Sprint 2“, which costs around 18,000 euros. This digital system enables targeted sprint and running training under controlled resistance and analyses all movement data in real time.
The focus is on carefully introducing Musiala back to the stresses and strains of professional soccer. While the team and coaching staff were still on their way back from the cup win at Union Berlin, the international continued to work on his return at the training ground in Munich.
