FC Bayern is experiencing a sporting renaissance under Vincent Kompany. After a turbulent debut season, the 39-year-old has stabilized the Munich side – and has now formed a team that inspires week after week. Praise comes from all directions, but the words of Honorary President Uli Hoeneß stand out in particular
FC Bayern are confidently leading the Bundesliga, are unbeaten in the Champions League and look more stable than they have for years. Much of this is the result of the work of Vincent Kompany, who has consistently followed his signature style despite a difficult start
Hoeneß, who recently met Kompany in person, is impressed by the quality of play, the spirit – and the entertainment value of the team: „You used to hope at the 80th minute that the game would soon be over. Now you say: I hope they play for a long time because it’s so much fun,“ he explained on Thursday at an event in the Bayern Museum
This statement is more than just praise, it is an accolade. Hoeneß continued: „The players are having fun. The spectators are having fun. And we in the stands are having fun. That is the ideal situation for FC Bayern at the moment.“
It is a rare clarity with which the honorary president describes the status quo: a harmonious club, a team that enjoys playing, a coach who strikes the right note

Kompany convinces – because he is different from Tuchel and Nagelsmann
Another point that Hoeneß emphasizes is particularly noteworthy: Kompany’s dealings with the media, an area in which previous coaches have repeatedly caused offence
Hoeneß puts it in his typical way – charming but pointed: „The previous coaches with us always gave you as journalists the template to discuss for weeks. That’s not the case with him. He wants to talk about soccer – and that’s good for the whole of FC Bayern.“
Hoeneß is not only praising Kompany, but also indirectly distinguishing him from Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann. While both predecessors often made headlines through public criticism, debates about principles or tactical statements, Kompany’s communication is clear, calm and focused
For Hoeneß – and for the club as a whole – this is a major factor in the new stability.
