In Vincent Kompany, Bayern have identified a new top favourite to succeed Thomas Tuchel. Munich are currently holding concrete talks with the Belgian. However, it has now been revealed that the 38-year-old has several options.
Bayern have been linked with several coaching candidates from the English Premier League in recent days.
According to Sky, Vincent Kompany is now Munich’s favoured solution. In particular, sporting director Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund would like to lure the Belgian to the Isar.
Kompany has several options
However, as Belgian transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri reports, FC Bayern is not the only club courting Kompany.
According to Tavolieri, Brighton & Hove Albion are also courting the youngster. Chelsea FC are also rumoured to be interested. Both EPL clubs are also looking for a new head coach in the summer. Brighton in particular are said to be a serious option for the former Bundesliga professional. The coaching job at the German record champions is also said to be very appealing to Kompany.
The interesting thing is: According to information from Tavolieri, Kompany wants to make a decision about his sporting future relatively quickly, ideally this week.
Burnley FC are assuming that Kompany will leave, even though he is still contractually bound to the relegated Premier League club until 2028.
Talks between Bayern and Kompany are progressing positively, but the two sides have not yet reached an agreement. Munich have not yet made a concrete offer to the 38-year-old.
It is also clear that if an agreement is reached with Kompany, Bayern will have to enter into negotiations with Burnley. Kompany does not have an exit clause in his contract.
