Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel gives an update on the Munich team’s personnel situation ahead of the final home game against VfL Wolfsburg. As previously reported, the 50-year-old will be without attacking stars Leroy Sané and Jamal Musiala. However, other stars are still missing.
At the press conference ahead of the clash with VfL Wolfsburg on matchday 33, Tuchel gave an update on the personnel situation ahead of the Bundesliga match. In attack, Munich will have to do without all the players who started against Real Madrid during the week.
„All four attacking players who started against Real Madrid won’t be able to play tomorrow. Harry Kane still has a back problem. Serge Gnabry is injured and it will be very tight for the European Championship. As for Leroy Sané, I don’t think we’ll see him on the pitch in the next two games, he’s getting treatment. Jamal Musiala has had knee pain since the Arsenal game, he won’t play tomorrow and probably not next week either,“ explained the 50-year-old.
Sané and Musiala: The last game is also in danger
A fundamentally revamped attack can therefore be expected against Wolfsburg. While Kane could feature again this season, it looks as though Sané and Musiala will no longer appear in Bayern colours this season. Gnabry, on the other hand, will definitely be out for longer and will have to worry about his participation in the European Championship.
The Münchner Abendzeitung had already reported in advance that Sané and Musiala could possibly be given a break.
The internationals have both been struggling with complaints for weeks, and Bayern coach Tuchel has often emphasised in the past that Sané is playing with pain. Musiala, on the other hand, mentioned after the bitter elimination against Real Madrid in the Premier League that he had been taking painkillers for months in order to be able to play.
