The football world could soon witness a remarkable comeback if rumours that Hansi Flick could return to FC Bayern Munich along with Miroslav Klose and Toni Tapalovic come true. All three have worked for the German record champions in the past.
According to Sky, FC Bayern is holding concrete talks with Hansi Flick about a possible return as head coach. The report also stated that Toni Tapalovic and Miroslav Klose could be integrated into the coaching team as assistant coaches.
Hansi Flick’s time at Bayern Munich was characterised by great success. After starting as assistant coach under Niko Kovac in 2019, he took over during a difficult period for the club. Under his leadership, Bayern underwent a transformation that culminated in the historic six-pointer in 2020. After his surprise departure from Bayern due to internal disagreements, Flick became national coach of the German national team. A post he held until after the 2022 World Cup.
Klose and Tapalovic also have deep roots with FC Bayern
Miroslav Klose, a legendary striker who himself had an impressive career at FC Bayern and in the German national team, later returned as a youth coach and finally as an assistant to the first team. After his time at Bayern, Klose briefly worked as an assistant coach for the national team under Flick. He currently works as a TV pundit in Germany and Italy.
Toni Tapalovic, as long-time goalkeeping coach, has also had a major influence on the club, particularly through his work with Manuel Neuer. After a long and successful period at Bayern, during which he made a significant contribution to Neuer’s development, Tapalovic was surprisingly relieved of his duties at the beginning of 2023.
