FC Bayern is continuing its intensive search for a new head coach. Due to the fact that numerous candidates have turned down the Munich club, reports have recently been circulating that FCB could opt for an interim solution in order to secure a top solution in the summer of 2025. Max Eberl denied these rumours.
Numerous Bayern fans had recently spoken out in favour of an interim solution after Munich received numerous rejections (including from Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick). Not only could a new attempt be made at Alonso in the summer of 2025, but other names such as Jürgen Klopp or possibly Pep Guardiola could also end up on the coaching market in a year’s time.
However, those responsible at Säbener Straße are not thinking in this direction: „At the long end, we are looking for a coach who will work with us in the medium or long term. That is our premise and we will continue to pursue it for the time being,“ emphasised sporting director Max Eberl in an interview with BILD.
„We want to find THE coach“
Eberl and Co. were recently sharply criticised for the „embarrassing coach search“. The 50-year-old made it clear that he does not blame himself for the recent flood of cancellations: „In the past – whether at Bayern or other big clubs in Germany and Europe – it was the case that not everything always worked out with the first solution. There are also coaches who decide to take a different path. That is completely legitimate“.
The fact that the record champions have received so many rejections doesn’t bother Eberl either: „It’s clear that we have to ask. It wouldn’t be wise of us not to ask anyone and only take the one where we know 100 per cent from the start that he will come to Bayern Munich, but where we are not 100 per cent convinced. That makes no sense.“
Eberl is confident that FCB will find the ideal solution in the end: „We want to find THE coach, we’re sounding out, we’re giving it some thought. That hasn’t worked so far, but we’ll get there.“
