Dayot Upamecano has lost his regular place in FC Bayern’s central defence for the time being. After a difficult few weeks, there is now renewed speculation surrounding a move for the Frenchman. Apparently, several top European clubs have already positioned themselves.
Dayot Upamecano has recently emphasised that he wants to remain loyal to FC Bayern Munich. Nevertheless, new rumours about a move to another club have surfaced. According to media reports, the German record champions are not averse to selling the 25-year-old.
Upamecano has disappointed too often of late – especially in particularly important matches. For example, he was sent off in the Bundesliga defeats at VfL Bochum (2:3) and in the Champions League at Lazio Roma (0:1). The Frenchman subsequently lost his starting place. Matthijs de Ligt, Eric Dier and Min-jae Kim are currently ahead of the 25-year-old in the hierarchy.
Transfer expert Ekrem Konur has now reported that Upamecano is being watched by a number of top European clubs. According to Konur, the centre-back is on the wish list of Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Chelsea FC. However, according to the report, it is not yet concrete.
Upamecano still doesn’t want to leave
Upamecano himself still has no intention of leaving FC Bayern Munich any time soon. In the coming weeks, the Frenchman wants to reclaim his starting place and put an end to the speculation himself. His contract in Munich runs until the summer of 2026.
Upamecano moved to Munich from RB Leipzig for €42.50 million in the summer of 2021. Since then, he has appeared in 107 competitive matches for FCB. He has scored three goals and set up eight assists. He wants to be part of the French national team at the upcoming European Championships in Germany. So far, he has played 17 international matches (2 goals).
