By extending Harry Kane’s contract through 2029, FC Bayern has secured one of its most important players for the long term. But the deal with the English superstar apparently comes at a price. As has now come to light, the Munich club made significant concessions to their star striker during negotiations. The 33-year-old could thus become the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
As reported by the Abendzeitung München, Kane’s new contract could see him earn an annual salary of more than 25 million euros. This would make the reigning Ballon d’Or winner the highest-paid Bayern player in history.
The agreement was apparently the result of intensive talks that spanned several months. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen played a decisive role in the negotiations; he had already been instrumental in Kane’s signing in the summer of 2023.
Kane could earn more than 25 million euros
According to information from the AZ, Bayern did not merely make financial concessions to their star striker during contract negotiations. In addition to his salary, so-called IP rights—that is, the rights to the commercial use of Kane’s name and likeness—are said to have been part of the negotiations.
Through such agreements, the Englishman could benefit even more from his own marketing in the future.
Particularly noteworthy is the potential amount of his annual earnings. According to the report, Kane could earn more than 25 million euros per year under his new contract. This would set a new benchmark for the 33-year-old at the German record champions.
However, this apparently does not consist solely of a guaranteed base salary. The report does not specify exactly how the total amount is broken down.
According to The Athletic, Kane has received the most lucrative deal in Bayern Munich’s history and is set to become the highest-paid player in Europe as a result.
Another interesting aspect of the contract concerns its duration. Although Kane has extended his contract early through June 30, 2029, no additional option through 2030 was agreed upon.
As things stand, the new contract will therefore officially expire in the summer of 2029.
Dreesen negotiated with Kane’s family over eight rounds of talks

The background of the contract negotiations is also noteworthy. According to the Abendzeitung München, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has held a total of eight rounds of negotiations with Kane’s father, Patrick, and his brother, Charlie, since last summer.
Both are part of the English national team player’s inner circle and were already involved in the talks during his move from Tottenham Hotspur to Munich.
Dreesen is said to have once again played a decisive role. When the striker was signed in the summer of 2023, the Bayern boss had already played a key role in successfully completing the complicated transfer.
Now, he has apparently succeeded once again in reaching a long-term agreement with Kane’s family.
For the Munich club, the contract extension is a strategically important decision despite the significant financial burden. Since joining FC Bayern, Kane has scored an impressive 156 goals in 161 competitive matches. He has also won numerous titles and individual awards, most recently the Ballon d’Or.
Sports Director Max Eberl also emphasized after the official announcement that the contract extension provides the club with important planning certainty.
With the new contract, Bayern is now sending a clear message. The record champion is willing to go to great financial lengths for its most important offensive player.
Kane, in turn, is not only receiving a long-term contract but apparently also a total compensation package that could make him the highest-paid player in Munich.
