FC Bayern Munich has a Ballon d’Or winner on its roster! Harry Kane secured the prestigious award on Monday and was, of course, overjoyed afterward.
Many experts agree that the Englishman fully deserved this award because his 2025–26 season was brilliant. In the end, however, it was a close call, as Kylian Mbappé also had quite a few supporters and received many votes.
On Wednesday in the DFB Cup match against 1. FC Magdeburg, Kane was not yet able to make an appearance in front of his own fans; he sat on the bench for 90 minutes and was rested.
South Stand with a message for Kane
Today, Saturday, the fans also sent a message to their World Player of the Year. A banner was already visible in front of the South Stand during warm-ups, reading: “No showman, but a footballer as he should be. Congrats, Harry!”
The Bayern fans are thus honoring not only Kane’s triumph in the Ballon d’Or vote but also his character. Unlike Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé, Kane hadn’t campaigned as intensely or persistently to be selected in the end.

That’s why the victory was so special—especially since no Bayern player had won the Ballon d’Or since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. That long dry spell finally came to an end on Monday.
Kane himself saidin an interview with France Football that he still hadn’t “fully realized” what had actually happened. And: “This is a completely different kind of pressure than what you feel on the field before a big game, when you know you can influence the outcome with a good performance or a goal.”
But now it’s time to focus on sporting goals again. After all, Bayern Munich still has several important games on the schedule this year. Moreover, like everyone at the record-breaking club, Kane wants to win as many titles as possible.
