A contract extension with Harry Kane appears to be getting closer and closer. Bayern boss Jan-Christian Dreesen has now confirmed significant progress.
At FC Bayern, more and more signs point to a soon-to-be-finalized deal in the contract negotiations with Harry Kane. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has now provided a clearer picture of the ongoing talks with the English striker than ever before.
“I’m very optimistic. We’ve had good discussions and are currently working out the details,” Dreesen explained in an interview with Sport BILD. With this, the Bayern boss confirms that both sides are now in an advanced stage of negotiations.
There had already been reports of a basic agreement. As early as mid-October, it was reported that Kane and FC Bayern had reportedly reached an agreement on the key issue of the contract term. According to those reports, the new contract is set to run through 2029. Most recently, only a few contractual details remained unresolved.
This is precisely where Dreesen’s statement comes in. While there is still no official announcement, the phrase “fine-tuning” indicates that the talks have progressed well beyond an initial agreement.
Dreesen raves about Kane’s development at FC Bayern
Dreesen also makes it clear that the Munich club is determined to keep its top striker. The CEO also reflects on Kane’s development since his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023.
“With Harry, we brought in an absolute top star from the Premier League in the summer of 2023. He has evolved from a classic penalty-box striker into a player comparable to an NFL quarterback,” Dreesen explained.
For the Bayern boss, what was then a record investment has long since paid off: “Not every coach in the world may understand that. But for us, he was worth every euro.”

Kane himself has also recently left no doubt about how comfortable he feels in Munich. Following his Ballon d’Or triumph, the 33-year-old publicly emphasized his close connection to FC Bayern and explained how much the environment there has helped him grow, both athletically and personally.
The conditions for a long-term partnership are thus in place on both sides. Now, it appears, it’s just a matter of finalizing the last few details.
