Jonathan Tah has long since come to see Harry Kane as more than just an opponent. Now the Bayern star explains what, in his view, makes the striker so special.

Since Tah has been playing for FC Bayern himself, he no longer sees the English striker just as an opponent, but works with him every day in training. It’s precisely there that he’s come to understand why Kane has been scoring goals left and right at the highest level for years.
Speaking to The Times, Tah raved about his teammate’s attitude: “I’ve played against him many times, and he just kept getting better; now that I’m playing alongside him, I understand why. He’s never satisfied; you can see how he works on himself before and after practice. He’s the best finisher I’ve ever seen—and he’s still working on it.”
For Tah, Kane’s secret to success lies not solely in his extraordinary finishing ability. Rather, what’s crucial is his constant attention to detail—even though the 33-year-old has long been among the most successful goal scorers of his generation.
Despite his records, Kane keeps working harder and harder
The numbers show just how extraordinary Kane’s record at FC Bayern is. Before his 100th Bundesliga appearance, the Englishman had already scored 101 goals in 99 league games. He also added 26 assists.
Since his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, Kane has impressed not only as a classic goal-scorer. Time and again, he drops back into midfield, helps build up play, and sets up his teammates with precise passes.
His consistency is particularly impressive. Kane has maintained his tremendous scoring rate from the Premier League here in Germany while simultaneously refining his game. Tah’s comments now offer insight into just how much work lies behind this extraordinary record.
The fact that Kane puts in extra work even after training sessions aligns with his drive to constantly improve. It is precisely this mentality that is likely one of the reasons why FC Bayern is planning for the long term with him.
It was recently reported that Bayern Munich and Kane have reached a basic agreement on a new contract running through 2029. An official announcement has yet to be made.
Regardless of that, it’s clear to Tah just how important his teammate is to the team. He apparently finds it particularly remarkable that, despite all his records and successes, Kane isn’t content with what he’s achieved.
