FC Bayern has bounced back from a brief slump with an impressive performance. In their 6-1 rout of RB Leipzig, the Munich team looked particularly strong on offense. Joshua Kimmich was understandably pleased after the final whistle. However, the defensive midfielder also found one small point of criticism regarding the German record champions’ performance.
After two draws against Augsburg and Viking Stavanger, Bayern were determined to bounce back. Vincent Kompany’s team did just that in impressive fashion.
By halftime, Munich was already leading 3–0. After the break, they added three more goals, giving Leipzig hardly a chance.
Kimmich raves: “On another level.”
Kimmich was particularly impressed by the first hour. Speaking to Sky, the 31-year-old heaped praise on his team’s performance. “The first 60 minutes were top-notch. It was already 3–0 at halftime; we could have even scored one or two more goals, and then we came out strong after the break,” explained the Bayern star.
Despite the decisive victory, however, Kimmich still saw room for improvement.
“The first 60 minutes were very, very good; after that, it was okay, but before that, it was really on another level.”
After numerous substitutions in the second half, the Munich team lost some of their rhythm. However, that didn’t change their clear dominance.
Kimmich himself was one of the most standout players on the field. With his vision and precise passes, he repeatedly set up the offensive players for dangerous chances.
Kimmich is especially happy for Díaz

Luis Díaz received special praise. The Colombian had recently faced criticism for his failure to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
Against Leipzig, he broke out of his slump in impressive fashion. With three goals, the winger emerged as the standout player of the evening.
“I’m extremely happy for Lucho. Of course, he missed quite a few chances at the start of the season, but today he was definitely the man of the match—I’m really happy for him,” Kimmich emphasized.
For the midfielder, the fact that Bayern regularly creates numerous scoring chances is also due to the varied running patterns of the offensive stars. “I always try to keep my head up and look ahead. We have so many players who make runs into space, just like Lucho. That’s why we create so many chances—because we get behind the defense from different positions.”
With their stellar performance against Leipzig, the Munich team impressively demonstrated their offensive quality.
Now the task is to replicate that strong performance in the Champions League showdown against Arsenal FC this coming Wednesday.
