FC Bayern continues to keep a close eye out for Europe’s top talents. In doing so, the Munich club could once again find itself in competition with Borussia Dortmund. Both Bundesliga heavyweights have apparently set their sights on a promising young talent from Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Sky, both the German record champions and BVB are interested in Luca Williams-Barnett. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder is one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the Spurs academy and could leave Tottenham despite having a contract that runs through 2028.
However, a transfer would not be a sure thing for either Bayern or Dortmund. Several Premier League heavyweights are also reportedly interested in Williams-Barnett.
Bayern and BVB are chasing Williams-Barnett
According to the report, the England U-19 international would like to leave Tottenham. This could present an interesting opportunity for interested clubs.
In addition to Bayern and Dortmund, Chelsea FC as well as the two Manchester clubs, City and United, are also said to be showing interest. The competition for Williams-Barnett is correspondingly fierce.
For the two Bundesliga clubs in particular, however, the athletic prospects could be a deciding factor. In recent years, young English players have repeatedly made the move to Germany to gain playing experience at a high level early in their careers.

BVB, in particular, has had very good experiences with this model. Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham developed into top international stars in Dortmund. Carney Chukwuemeka also made his way from England to BVB.
For its part, FC Bayern is increasingly trying to sign highly talented players at an early stage and use its academy to pave their way into the first team. The recent breakthroughs of Aleksandar Pavlovic and Lennart Karl underscore that this approach can now be successful.
Tottenham gem impresses with strong stats
Williams-Barnett made his professional debut for Tottenham as early as September 2025. However, his big breakthrough with the Spurs has yet to materialize. After his first appearance, he made only one other brief appearance.
In the youth ranks, however, the attacking player has made an impressive name for himself. For Tottenham’s U18 team, he tallied a total of 37 points in 32 appearances. In twelve games for the U21s, he added another 15 goal contributions.
Williams-Barnett has also impressed at the international youth level. In six UEFA Youth League matches, he scored seven goals and set up two more.
The 18-year-old is regarded as a technically gifted and goal-scoring forward who also possesses excellent vision. It is precisely this profile that makes him attractive to numerous top European clubs.
It remains to be seen whether Bayern will actually make a move. One thing is clear, however: If Williams-Barnett were to leave Tottenham, a high-stakes transfer battle could ensue. And as has so often been the case in the past, Bayern and Dortmund could find themselves going head-to-head in the process.
