Florian Wirtz is still struggling to find his stride at Liverpool FC. Oliver Bierhoff is now bringing another top European club into the picture.
Florian Wirtz is still searching for his best form at Liverpool FC. The 23-year-old has been seeing regular playing time following his blockbuster transfer from Leverkusen, but so far has only been able to meet the high expectations in spurts.
Now Oliver Bierhoff is bringing up a possible new club for the German national team player. On the BILD show “Die Lage der Liga,” the former DFB managing director explained: “He’s an absolute world-class player who now needs to prove that once again—specifically on the field with his performances—by delivering consistent results and making his mark.”
As a possible future destination, Bierhoff named—of all places—FC Barcelona. “I actually think he’s capable of playing for several clubs. When he went to England—based on my assessment of him—I also said he wouldn’t get flustered just because it’s a different country. So, I believe he’s capable of succeeding in other countries as well. I could see him doing well, for example, under Hansi Flick in Barcelona. He’d have room to play there, and he’d have great teammates.”
Bayern is currently holding back on Wirtz
For FC Bayern, the situation remains of interest; after all, the Munich club had made an intensive effort to sign Wirtz before his move to England. Most recently, there have been clear indications that Bayern isn’t currently planning a new push.

Wirtz is under contract with Liverpool through 2030. According to Sport BILD, he earns around 20 million euros per year there, and his transfer cost 150 million euros.
A transfer would therefore be financially challenging. Should Wirtz leave Liverpool at some point, however, there are likely to be other top international options besides Bayern.
