Dani Olmo and FC Bayern—this connection is by no means new. The Spanish national team player has been repeatedly linked to the German record champions in recent years. Now his agent, Andy Bara, has confirmed that a move to Munich was actually on the table twice.
Even before Olmo’s move from Dinamo Zagreb to RB Leipzig in January 2020, Bayern had been interested in the attacking player. At the time, however, the Spaniard made a conscious decision not to join the German record champions.
As Bara now revealed on the Incubator podcast, the decision to turn down the offer at that time was largely based on his recommendation.
Olmo’s agent advised against a move to Bayern
“He turned down Bayern at my suggestion while he was still at Dinamo,” Bara explained. In his view, a move to a European powerhouse would have come too soon for Olmo at that point.
“I told him, ‘You need to take another step forward,’ and that’s exactly what happened,” the agent revealed. Olmo moved to Leipzig instead and developed into one of the Bundesliga’s best attacking players there.
Bayern’s interest apparently didn’t wane after that. “Later, while playing for Leipzig, he received another offer from Bayern,” Bara confirmed.

But even on their second attempt, the Munich club was turned down. Olmo decided to return to FC Barcelona, where he had already spent much of his youth.
In the long term, the Spaniard apparently has even other plans. According to his agent, Olmo would like to end his playing career one day at Dinamo Zagreb. “He wants to end his career at Dinamo and hopes to do so, even as a coach—he’d like to start his coaching career at Dinamo,” Bara explained.
Will Olmo be on Bayern’s radar for a third time?
Nevertheless, the connection between Olmo and Bayern doesn’t seem to be completely over. The attacking player currently doesn’t have an undisputed starting spot at FC Barcelona. In five of the first seven league games this season, he initially came off the bench.
This has sparked new speculation about his future. Sky Sports recently reported that Bayern is also keeping an eye on Olmo’s situation. According to the report, the Spaniard remains on Munich’s radar.
According to BILD as well, there are officials within FC Bayern who think highly of the technically gifted attacking player. However, a transfer as early as this winter is reportedly not on the table.
This means Olmo could indeed come back into Bayern’s sights for a third time in the future. The Munich club’s first two attempts ended without success: Olmo initially chose Leipzig, and later Barcelona. Whether a partnership will eventually materialize remains to be seen.
