A spectacular transfer rumor involving Michael Olise is causing a stir. Bayern Munich is reportedly in talks with Liverpool FC regarding a transfer of the 24-year-old. What’s particularly curious is that several Liverpool stars could be included in a potential deal.
The report is being circulated by the English outlet Indykaila News. It is a consortium of five transfer insiders who have made a name for themselves in the past—primarily in England—through their revelations. The network cites “reliable sources” close to the Reds’ club as the basis for the alleged negotiations.
According to the report, the names Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz, and Rio Ngumoha have also come up in discussions between Bayern and Liverpool. Apparently, various models are being considered to facilitate a transfer of Olise to Anfield.
The Frenchman himself is also said to be open to a possible move to Liverpool. However, there has been no confirmation of this claim so far either.
Wirtz for Olise? Major doubts about the Liverpool rumor
As spectacular as the report sounds, it should be taken with a grain of salt. There are currently many factors pointing against an imminent departure for Olise.
The French international has a long-term contract with FC Bayern running through 2029. There is no buyout clause in his current contract. Above all, however, the Munich club has made it clear time and again in recent months that they are planning for the long term with their star attacker.
The fact that Wirtz, of all people, could be part of a potential deal makes the rumor even more unusual. The German national team player had long been Bayern’s top target but ultimately chose Liverpool. There are currently no concrete indications that Bayern is now considering signing Wirtz in a swap deal involving Olise.
Bayern wants to extend Olise’s contract
Rather than considering a sale, Bayern is focused on securing a long-term commitment from its key player.
Sporting director Max Eberl recently outlined the timeline for future planning in an interview with Sport BILD. “We should know by next summer whether he’s inclined to extend his contract or not,” the 52-year-old explained.
The Munich club would like to sit down with Olise “in due course” to discuss extending his contract, which runs through 2029.
Bayern signed the Frenchman from Crystal Palace in 2024 for around 53 million euros. Since then, Olise has developed into one of the record champions’ most important attacking players.
A move to Liverpool would therefore indeed be a blockbuster transfer. At this point, however, it is an unconfirmed rumor from a source whose claims should be treated with due caution. There are no concrete indications so far that Bayern is willing to let Olise go or is negotiating a swap involving Wirtz, Gakpo, or Ngumoha.
