FC Bayern wants to keep Michael Olise in Munich for the long term. Max Eberl is now making it clear by when the French player’s intentions should be clear.
Michael Olise has quickly become one of FC Bayern’s most important players. The 24-year-old’s contract runs through 2029, yet the Munich club is already considering a possible extension.
Recently, there has been repeated speculation about interest from top European clubs. Real Madrid, in particular, has been linked with Olise. Sports director Max Eberl has now clarified just how serious the talks actually were this summer.
In an interview with Sport BILD, when asked whether Olise or his management had contacted him regarding a possible transfer, Eberl replied: “Not at all, not even once.”
In fact, there was only one WhatsApp message from the Frenchman during the World Cup. Eberl initially hesitated briefly because he had expected the message to be about a possible transfer. Instead, Olise simply sent him a photo of himself with Manu Koné and greetings from the U.S.
The question of a possible sale is also not on the Bayern boss’s mind at the moment. When asked at what transfer fee the club might start to consider selling Olise, Eberl replied clearly: “If you want to win the Champions League, that question doesn’t even come up. That’s the beauty of Bayern Munich: You don’t have to waver at any price.”
Bayern wants planning certainty regarding Olise early on
Despite his contract running through 2029, Bayern apparently wants to clarify the future of their offensive star early on. Olise is expected to be one of the team’s defining figures in the long term.
“Michael has made extraordinary progress with us. We’ll definitely sit down in due time and talk about what’s next. He still has a three-year contract—and I want to emphasize: without an exit clause. Let me put it this way: By next summer, we should know whether he’s leaning toward extending his contract or not,” Eberl explained.
This marks the first time the sporting director has set a specific timeframe. While there isn’t any immediate pressure—after all, Olise would still be under contract with FC Bayern for two more years even in the summer of 2027—the club’s leadership clearly wants to prevent the future of their key player from becoming a constant topic of discussion down the line.
