FC Bayern is working on a contract extension with Harry Kane. Max Eberl is very confident and has also made a clear statement regarding the timeline.
At FC Bayern, talks with Harry Kane regarding an early contract extension are in full swing. The English striker’s current contract runs through the summer of 2027. However, the Munich club wants to keep its superstar with the team for much longer.
It has been known for some time that both sides are fundamentally interested in continuing their partnership. Most recently, both sporting director Max Eberl and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen publicly confirmed that Kane and FC Bayern want to continue working together.
Now Eberl has once again made it clear just how optimistic he is about reaching an agreement. In an interview with Sport BILD, the 52-year-old also highlighted the progress Kane has made since his move to Munich: “Harry already had an impressive career before his time at FC Bayern. But he didn’t win any titles until he came to Munich. I believe Harry has taken another step forward here in terms of his personality and leadership qualities. You can feel and see that Harry feels at home in Munich, at the club, and on the team. I can’t think of any reason why a contract extension wouldn’t happen,” he said.
Eberl doesn’t want to unnecessarily delay Kane’s contract extension
However, the key details of the new contract have not yet been finalized. Most recently, the contract term in particular was considered an open issue. While Kane is reportedly eager to extend his contract through 2030, Bayern has also discussed a contract running through 2029.
There, however, appears to be no disagreement whatsoever regarding the fundamental desire for an extension. Eberl also made it clear that the negotiations should not drag on for an extended period.

When asked whether Bayern had set a specific timeframe for concluding the talks, the sporting director replied: “We don’t want this to become a never-ending saga, and it won’t.”
This suggests that clarity on the Munich player’s most important contract issue could be reached in the foreseeable future. Just a few days ago, Eberl had already stated that both sides want an extension and that they are therefore optimistic about reaching an agreement.
Kane himself feels very at home in Munich with his family and has turned down offers from other clubs in the past. On the field, there’s no doubt whatsoever about his importance to the team. Since his move from Tottenham, the Englishman has become Bayern’s undisputed leader and top scorer.
Now the main focus is on ironing out the final contract details. In any case, Eberl’s statements leave no doubt as to what outcome Munich is hoping for: Kane is expected to continue scoring goals for FC Bayern beyond 2027—and the negotiations are not supposed to turn into the next major contract saga.
