Throughout the summer, Sacha Boey was considered a likely departure from FC Bayern. Most recently, he hasn’t even been training with the first team, but rather on his own. A move to Fulham on Deadline Day was briefly discussed but ultimately fell through.
The right-back currently faces an uncertain future. According to Sky, there were not just one but two inquiries from the Premier League on Deadline Day. So, in addition to Fulham, another club had him on their radar as well.
However, neither inquiry ever really materialized. So it’s possible the player will stay. And then? “He’ll be treated very fairly,” explained Christoph Freund, the sporting director, following the 4-1 Cup win over Osnabrück.
Boey: Interest from Galatasaray currently on hold
There have been repeated rumors in recent weeks and months that Galatasaray might re-enter the fray under certain circumstances. But time is running out here. It remains unclear whether the top Turkish club will even make another move.
And the connection between Galatasaray and Boey is, at least for the moment, on hold. The transfer window closes in Turkey on Friday evening as well; a lot would have to happen by then for Boey to move to Galatasaray.
Boey could still move to Saudi Arabia at a later date, but the question is whether that’s even a real possibility for the player himself. So far, there have been no concrete inquiries, which is why Boey’s attitude toward the Saudi Pro League hasn’t been put to the test yet.
In any case, Bayern isn’t holding out much hope right now that the player will leave. Even though Boey knows he’ll likely find himself in the stands from time to time, he’s expected to be given a fair chance because he’s consistently behaved professionally during preseason.
