This summer, FC Bayern compiled a list of players who no longer had a future with the club and were allowed to leave the record champions.
Almost all of these players, including Alexander Nübel, Joao Palhinha, and Bryan Zaragoza, were ultimately transferred. Only Sacha Boey, the right back, has not yet secured a transfer.
However, Bayern officials have repeatedly informed Boey that he no longer has a future with the club. Most recently, there was brief contact with Fulham on deadline day, but that fell through.
Will Boey return to the Bayern squad?
Some transfer windows are still open. A departure for Boey cannot be ruled out, though neither Bayern Munich nor the player himself is currently in negotiations with any potentially interested club.
Most recently, Boey was even removed from the matchday roster and trained on his own. Now, Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund has announced that the defender will return if no solution is found.
“Then he’ll be treated very fairly. He’s conducted himself very professionally and had a good preseason,” Freund replied when asked what would happen if Boey isn’t transferred. It’s also clear that the primary goal regarding Boey is a sale. That is FC Bayern’s clear priority.
After all, in the preseason games he played, the player put in committed performances and made hardly any mistakes. Especially when Konrad Laimer was injured, Boey got some playing time and fit in well. Given the thin roster, he could even become a rotation player who helps take the pressure off other players.
Although Bayern is well-staffed on the right side of the defense with Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanisic, Laimer could occasionally move into midfield, and Stanisic is also capable of playing more than one position.
