Jonas Urbig: Was standing a few steps in front of the goal line when the score was 0–1 and was then caught off guard by Meißner’s spectacular shot. Later, Urbig made a confident save on a low shot from Osnabrück’s center forward. Otherwise, the stand-in for Neuer didn’t have many opportunities to shine. Grade: 3.
Josip Stanisic: Delivered a solid performance on Bayern’s right side of defense without any particular highlights. Grade: 3.
Jonathan Tah: Slipped as the 0-1 goal was developing. He didn’t look good there. After that, however, Tah played steadily and was strong in one-on-one situations. Grade: 3.
Minjae Kim: Lost the decisive header leading up to the 0–1 goal. For the rest of the match, however, the South Korean defended confidently. Grade: 3.
Nathaniel Brown: Played as a left back this time rather than in the number 10 position. Tried several times to push forward. Was active but didn’t really create anything substantial. Was substituted after just over an hour. Decent performance. Grade: 3.
Joshua Kimmich: Set up Kane’s 1–1 goal with a long ball that Osnabrück’s Fabianski couldn’t clear cleanly. After falling behind, Kimmich rolled up his sleeves, led the way with strong commitment, and repeatedly drove his teammates forward. Strong performance. Grade: 2.
Tom Bischof: Put Bayern ahead 2–1: He first won the ball himself; it went through Olise to Diaz, who was initially denied by goalkeeper Krumrey—then Bischof stepped in again and slotted home the rebound. A lot of Bayern’s play in central midfield went through Bischof. In his first competitive appearance of the season, the youngster put in a convincing performance. Grade: 2.
Michael Olise: He was already Bayern’s most active offensive player in the first half. Olise had a great chance shortly before halftime, but goalkeeper Krumrey fished his well-placed low shot out of the corner. After that, he tried a curling shot, but it sailed well over the bar. In the second half, the Frenchman was more clinical: After an assist from Karl, Olise scored with a lob to make it 3–1 for Bayern—even though the Osnabrück players claimed a handball. A solid performance from Olise! Grade: 2.
Ismael Saibari: Started at the number 10 position. Struggled initially against the Osnabrück defense. In the second half, the new signing had more space—but couldn’t capitalize on it. A low shot of his was saved by the Osnabrück goalkeeper. That wasn’t a convincing performance from Saibari. Saibari was a bit of a letdown in Bayern’s attack. Grade: 4.
Luis Diaz: His shot from close range was stopped by Osnabrück goalkeeper Krumrey, but Bischof was able to put the rebound in the net to make it 2–1 for Bayern. Diaz battled hard on the left wing against the tenacious Osnabrück defense, but his attacking plays lacked that final touch. Grade: 3.
Harry Kane: Coolly finished a long ball from Kimmich with a first-time shot to make it 1–1. Had a good chance from point-blank range after a precise cross but couldn’t put the ball in the net. Later, a left-footed shot by the Englishman from a good position was blocked. With his well-placed penalty kick following a foul on Pavlovic, Kane put the finishing touch on the game and completed his brace. Grade: 2.
Substitutes:
Lennart Karl (62’ for Saibari): Made his comeback after his injury while playing for the national team. Pressed hard. He also won the ball that led to Olise’s 3–1 goal, for which he provided the assist. Karl brought a breath of fresh air after coming on as a substitute. Good! Grade: 2.
Alphonso Davies (62′ for Brown): Had a few good moments in build-up play after coming on. Davies exuded confidence on the left side of defense. Grade: 3.
Aleksandar Pavlovic (79′ for Bischof): Won the penalty that led to Kane’s 4–1 goal. Came on too late to be evaluated.
Konrad Laimer (87′ for Kane): Came on too late to be evaluated.
Bara Sapoko Ndiaye (87′ for Olise): Came on too late to be rated.
