Rodrigo Dudok has had the opportunity to showcase his skills up close at FC Bayern in recent days. The 19-year-old Uruguayan initially trained with the reserve team and was subsequently even given the opportunity to try out with Vincent Kompany’s first team. However, the record champions will not be signing him immediately. Instead, his path now leads, of all places, to a club with prominent ties to Bayern.
As transfer journalist Luca Bendoni reports, Dudok is set to join Estrela Amadora. The Portuguese first-division club is reportedly set to sign the winger on loan from Racing Club Montevideo. This means the youngster will not be joining one of Bayern’s teams for the time being.
The curious thing about this story: A group of investors led by former Bayern stars Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, and Yann Sommer recently acquired a stake in Estrela Amadora. While Dudok isn’t joining the German record champions, he remains, in a sense, within the extended Bayern sphere.
Dudok made a positive impression at FC Bayern
Just a few days ago, Dudok had drawn attention to himself at Säbener Straße. The versatile attacking player had come to Munich through Bayern’s network. Since 2023, Racing Club Montevideo has been majority-owned by Red&Gold Football, a joint venture between FC Bayern and Los Angeles FC.
Dudok is said to have made a very positive impression during his time in Munich. At one point, the Uruguayan was even allowed to train with the first team alongside stars like Harry Kane and Luis Díaz.
His story was reminiscent of Bara Sapoko Ndiaye. He, too, had initially showcased his skills during a tryout at FC Bayern and ultimately convinced the club’s officials so much that Munich first loaned him and later signed him permanently.
Bayern is likely to continue keeping a close eye on Dudok.
In Dudok’s case, however, things are now taking a different turn. Instead of returning to Uruguay as originally expected, it appears he is set to make the move to Europe to join Estrela Amadora.
For FC Bayern, this by no means means the matter is finally settled. Thanks to the connection to Racing and the new owners at Estrela Amadora, the Munich club should have no trouble tracking the winger’s continued development.
For Dudok, the loan to Portugal could even be a sensible intermediate step. Instead of having to make the leap directly to the German record champions, the 19-year-old can first prove himself in European professional soccer.
And should the Uruguayan impress at Estrela Amadora, his name could very well come up again at Säbener Straße. His multi-day trial in Munich has already shown that Bayern finds his potential intriguing.
