Arijon Ibrahimovic’s future at FC Bayern is suddenly up in the air. After Max Eberl hinted at the possibility that the talented forward might leave, the 20-year-old is reportedly extremely upset about the sports director’s public statements.
FC Bayern is considering letting Arijon Ibrahimovic go this summer. As Max Eberl confirmed, it could be difficult for the 20-year-old to get much playing time, which is why the club is open to a transfer.
“That’s why we said: Okay, if it’s in the best interest of both sides, then something could happen,” explained the sporting director.
Yet the situation seemed quite different just a few weeks ago. Ibrahimovic recently extended his contract with the record champions through 2028. This move apparently came with the expectation that he would be able to establish himself as a regular starter in Munich over the long term.
As Sport1 reports, Ibrahimovic is irritated by Eberl’s comments. His agent, Roman Rummenigge, is also said to be surprised. According to the report, such a clear public statement from the club had not been agreed upon beforehand.
This is now creating additional tension. Ibrahimovic apparently sees no reason to actively pursue a possible transfer. Rather, the 20-year-old could stick to his previous position and continue to fight for his chance at FC Bayern.
Yet there had recently been some positive signs. According to the report, both head coach Vincent Kompany and sporting director Christoph Freund are said to have conveyed to Ibrahimovic that he has a future in Munich.
Bayern apparently wants to sell him
For FC Bayern, however, the situation could still become interesting. The Munich club is said to prefer a permanent sale of the forward in order to generate additional financial resources.
However, such a transfer is likely to happen only if Ibrahimovic himself goes along with it. The player would have to agree to the move and work out a contract with a new club.
This could lead to an unexpected transfer saga surrounding Ibrahimovic. Bayern would apparently welcome a sale, but based on his public statements, the player himself seems to have little interest in facilitating it. The contract, which was extended just a few weeks ago through 2028, could play a decisive role in this matter.
