The next departure from FC Bayern is now official. Offensive talent Wisdom Mike is making a permanent move to Club Brugge and has already signed his contract.
The next transfer at FC Bayern is finally a done deal. Wisdom Mike is leaving the German record champions to join the top Belgian club Club Brugge.
As reported by Sky, the 17-year-old’s move is now complete. Mike successfully passed his physical and subsequently signed his contract with the Belgian club. All that remains is for the clubs to officially announce the transfer.
For FC Bayern, the sale of the young player is certainly worthwhile financially. The Munich club will receive a fixed transfer fee of five million euros. Agreed-upon bonus payments could increase the revenue even further in the future.
However, another detail of the deal is noteworthy: Bayern did not secure a buyback option for Mike. Should the attacking player excel at Bruges, the Munich club will therefore not be able to re-sign him under previously agreed-upon terms.
Bayern stands to benefit from a potential resale
Bayern isn’t letting their talent go entirely without a safety net, though. According to Sky, the record champions have secured a share of any future transfer fee. Should Mike leave Club Brugge later for a transfer fee, FCB would receive a financial share of that transfer.
For the 17-year-old, the move to Belgium opens up interesting prospects, especially from a sporting perspective. At FC Bayern, the path to regular playing time with the first team would have become difficult given the fierce competition in the offense. In Bruges, on the other hand, Mike is expected to be brought closer to the first team right away and play a role as a rotation player.
In Munich, Mike was regarded as a promising attacking talent and had already gotten a taste of playing with the record champions’ first team. Recently, however, his development was slowed by a prolonged injury. At the same time, other young players such as Maycon Cardozo began to take center stage.
With his move to Bruges, Mike has now chosen a club and a league that offer young players good opportunities to gain experience at a high level early on.
For Bayern, meanwhile, this marks another lucrative sale from their youth academy. Even the guaranteed five million euros represents a considerable sum for a player who had not yet permanently established himself in the professional squad. Through bonuses and a share of any future transfer fee, the total could even rise significantly in the future.
Now that the medical exam and contract signing have already taken place, the transfer is officially complete. The official announcement is expected to follow shortly.
