Vincent Kompany has been writing a success story ever since he joined FC Bayern. The coach, who moved to Munich from FC Burnley at the time, quickly settled in and, above all, significantly changed the atmosphere at the club. His public image is also a point in his favor.
And that extends far beyond the boundaries of Säbener Straße. Rarely has a Bayern coach made such a positive impression on the general public as Kompany has—whether through his comments on sports-related matters or on social issues.
Kompany is well-liked, which is why FC Bayern—taking his outstanding work into account, of course—has extended his contract through 2029.
Kompany even inspires his rivals

And so it’s no surprise that even opponents consistently sing his praises. Whether it’s Frank Schmidt, Niko Kovac, or Julian Schuster: they all spoke very highly of Kompany last season. “All in all, your club can consider itself very lucky and grateful to have you as head coach. It’s just great to see that both aspects work: high-quality soccer and this distinct humanity and approachability,” Schuster explained once again just recently.
Even the fans of the local rival in Munich, TSV 1860, aren’t against Kompany, as the Merkur reports. On the contrary, the general sentiment among the “Sixties” is that they could use a leader like him, too.
On Friday, before the season-opening Bundesliga match against Stuttgart, Kompany will be honored as Coach of the Year.
