Max Eberl has only one year left on his contract with FC Bayern. However, the sporting director could extend his contract early. A decision on this matter could be made as early as the coming days, as a supervisory board meeting is scheduled.
Over the past few months, there have been occasional updates regarding the likelihood of an extension. Uli Hoeneß played a key role in this, having once indicated that the sentiment wasn’t entirely in Eberl’s favor.
Most recently, however, the Bayern chairman offered a glimmer of hope, lavishing praise on Eberl and stating that, as things stand now, it looks 100% certain that they will decide in his favor.
Eberl Talks About New Contract
Generally speaking, things are looking good for Eberl, as several media outlets have recently reported. But certain conditions must be met.
Bayern’s sporting director recently appeared relaxed regarding his own future. It is unclear whether he has received positive signals, partly because he has consistently maintained a poker face of late.
Around the time of the Super Cup, Eberl was asked by Sky exactly what would happen next now that a decision has been made. “Honestly, I can’t say how the process works. This would be my first contract extension with FC Bayern. We’ll just have to wait and see what’s decided.” We’ll see,” the sporting director replied cautiously.
When pressed for more details, Eberl deflected the question with a grin. Even when asked again whether he might actually know more by now, he just grinned and said nothing further. The summer transfer window has gone well so far, and the club’s own homework on the signings front was completed early.
This has recently been viewed positively internally; even the Bayern bosses praised the sporting director and spoke of a successful summer.
