The new season is just around the corner, and FC Bayern faces a special test of their mettle on Saturday. Bundesliga rival RB Leipzig will be visiting the Allianz Arena for the Telekom Cup.
This match can be considered the official kickoff for the new season. FC Bayern doesn’t yet have all its star players available, as Michael Olise, Dayot Upamecano, and Harry Kane, for example, only recently completed their fitness tests and won’t join training until the Super Cup preseason.
Nevertheless, Bayern will be able to field a very interesting lineup. Players like Joshua Kimmich, Jonathan Tah, and Nathaniel Brown are slowly finding their rhythm, and Jamal Musiala and Ismael Saibari are also slowly but surely getting fit enough to see their first minutes of action.

Some of Bayern’s young talents are sure to be in the lineup as well. Maycon Cardozo, Bastian Assomo, and Filip Pavic have already made a name for themselves. The closer the first competitive matches get, the more the FCB naturally wants to gel as a team. However, some of the top stars aren’t yet at the fitness level needed to play a full 90 minutes.
There will still be valuable insights to be gained, though—there’s no doubt about that. After all, despite Diomande’s departure, RB has an intriguing roster and, above all, an intriguing coach in Martin Demichelis.
