FC Bayern won its Telekom Cup exhibition match against RB Leipzig 3-1 at the Allianz Arena. Here are the FCBinside player ratings for the Bayern stars.
Manuel Neuer: Was not tested in the first half. However, Neuer made a top-notch save right at the start of the second half following a shot by Bakayoko. Shortly afterward, the FCB goalkeeper made another strong save against the Belgian. Neuer had no chance on Gruda’s well-placed equalizer that made it 1–1. Grade: 2.
Konrad Laimer: Had to be substituted due to injury in the 10th minute. No rating.
Jonathan Tah: Was rock-solid in the center of defense. Grade: 3.
Minjae Kim: Didn’t look confident at center back. Made two dangerous misplaced passes and was a step too late in several duels. Grade: 4.
Nathaniel Brown: Played very solidly in his Bayern debut at the Allianz Arena. He also made several dynamic runs down the left flank. On the equalizer, Brown left far too much space behind him for the scorer, Gruda. Brown’s highlight, however, was his goal to make it 2–1, for which he was celebrated by the Südkurve for the first time. After a beautiful pass from Pavlovic, Brown coolly slotted it home. A truly dream debut for Brown in his new soccer home! Grade: 2.
Joshua Kimmich: Played confidently in central midfield. Kimmich made no mistakes, but didn’t make a significant impact either. Grade: 3.
Aleksandar Pavlovic: Was relatively inconspicuous at first but, as usual, was reliable with his passing. His best pass of the game was the through ball to Brown that led to the 2–1 goal. Grade: 2.
Tim Binder: Played a part in Diaz’s goal that made it 1–0. Leipzig couldn’t clear his cross after he controlled the ball cleanly—and the Colombian scored to give Bayern the lead. Binder had a few good moments on the right wing overall. With his pass to Pavlovic, who set up the goal, Binder also set up Bayern’s 2–1 goal. Grade: 2.
Tom Bischof: Played in the number 10 position. However, Bischof was unable to make his mark on Bayern’s offensive play. Grade: 4.
Luis Diaz: Scored precisely into the bottom right corner to make it 1–0 for Bayern. He repeatedly attempted solo runs and was very agile. Grade: 2.
Arijon Ibrahimovic: As Kane’s replacement in the center of the attack, he was largely left hanging. Ibrahimovic tried hard but never created any dangerous chances. Grade: 4.
Substitutes:
Sacha Boey (10’ for Laimer): Came on early to replace the injured Laimer and took over the right side of defense. Late in the first half, Boey got a shot off from a good position in the penalty area but was blocked. Otherwise, he played solidly. Grade: 3.
Ismael Saibari (69′ for Bischof): The new signing made his debut in a Bayern jersey. On the 3-1 goal, Saibari immediately provided the assist for Musiala’s goal. A good debut! Grade: 2.
Jamal Musiala (69′ for Ibrahimovic): He had a good chance right after coming on as a substitute but shot over the bar. Then Musiala scored to make it 3–1 for Bayern—with a bit of luck, as his shot was deflected. The national team player caused a moment of concern when he appeared to collapse on the field. Afterward, however, he was able to leave the field on his own—dazed, but to loud applause. Grade: 2.
Hiroki Ito (69th min., for Kim): Played flawlessly at center back. Grade: 3.
Wisdom Mike (69’ for Diaz): Tried a long-range shot, but it went well over the bar. That was his only notable moment. Grade: 3.
Maycon Cardozo (69′ for Binder): Took over the right attacking flank from Binder. Cardozo immediately had a good scoring opportunity, but RB goalkeeper Vandevoordt made the save. Grade: 3.
Alphonso Davies (69′ for Brown): Didn’t have any standout moments, but he didn’t make any mistakes either. Grade: 3.
Bara Sapoko Ndiaye (86′ for Musiala): Came on too late to be rated.
