The next departure from FC Bayern is official. Armindo Sieb is leaving the German record champions to continue his career in the U.S.
At FC Bayern, the roster for the new season is taking shape. After the Munich club made several personnel decisions in recent weeks, the next departure has now been confirmed. Armindo Sieb is moving to Major League Soccer effective immediately.
As FC Bayern officially announced on Thursday, the Munich club has reached an agreement with Los Angeles FC on the transfer of the 23-year-old forward. Sieb will thus join a club that is part of the German record champions’ international “Red&Gold Football” network.
For Sieb, this marks the end of a chapter at FC Bayern that was characterized by several stints outside of Munich. Over the past two seasons, the forward played on loan for 1. FSV Mainz 05. He will not now be returning permanently to Vincent Kompany’s professional squad.
Freund explains Sieb’s move to Los Angeles
Sporting Director Christoph Freund sees the move as the right opportunity for Sieb to continue his development in the United States: “Armindo Sieb has gained a lot of experience in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga over the past few years. We’re very pleased that, following Timothy Tillman, he is now the second player to make his way from our campus to our ‘Red & Gold’ partner club, Los Angeles FC. We know he’s in very good hands there and will take the next step in his career.”
The connection between FC Bayern and Los Angeles FC thus plays an important role in the transfer. Sieb is already the second former Munich Campus player, after Timothy Tillman, to make his way to the partner club in California.
For the forward, this marks the beginning of a new chapter six years after his move to Munich. Sieb joined FC Bayern in the summer of 2020 from TSG Hoffenheim’s youth academy. He didn’t have to wait long for his first appearance with the first team. As early as October of that same year, he made his competitive debut for the record champions in the DFB-Pokal.
However, he was unable to make a lasting breakthrough at Bayern. Instead, Sieb gained valuable playing experience elsewhere in the following years. After his time at the Bayern campus, he moved to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, where he was able to establish himself in professional soccer.
The Munich club kept a close eye on his development and exercised an agreed buyback option in 2024. At the same time, FC Bayern signed Sieb to a contract running through the summer of 2027. This was immediately followed by a two-year loan to Mainz.
After the loan ended this summer, the question arose as to what Sieb’s next move would be. During preseason, the forward was given another opportunity to impress Kompany. Among other appearances, he played in the 15-0 friendly win against FC Rottach-Egern, scoring two goals in the process.
However, it wasn’t enough to secure a permanent spot on the Bayern roster. Instead of another loan, club officials have now decided to let him leave permanently. At Los Angeles FC, Sieb is expected to see regular playing time and take the next step in his career.
For FC Bayern, the transfer is also another example of collaboration within the “Red&Gold Football” network. Among other things, these partnerships are intended to open up additional opportunities for the Munich club in the development and placement of players. With Sieb’s move to Los Angeles, this model is now being put into practice once again.
