Felipe Chavez could leave FC Bayern on loan once again. Now there’s another interested club—and Thomas Müller, of all people, could play a role in this.
Interest in Felipe Chavez is growing. The 19-year-old has drawn attention with his performances during FC Bayern’s preseason, yet he is expected to gain playing time elsewhere first in the coming season. Several clubs are already exploring the possibility of signing the offensive talent on loan.
According to information from FCBinside, Portuguese first-division club CF Estrela Amadora has now joined the race for Chavez. This could present an interesting option for Munich—not least because of the connections between the club from the Greater Lisbon area and FC Bayern.
Two players with a Bayern past have already moved to Amadora recently. Max Scholze left the reserve team last winter to head to Portugal. He was followed this summer by Lovro Zvonarek, who, after loan stints with Sturm Graz and Grasshoppers Zurich, made a permanent move to Estrela and signed a contract there through 2029.
Now, with Chavez, the next player from Bayern’s youth academy could follow.
Will Müller join Estrela Amadora?
This interest is particularly noteworthy given the future plans surrounding Estrela Amadora. In early June, BILD reported that Thomas Müller, along with Mats Hummels, Yann Sommer, and a group of investors, was planning to take over the Portuguese first-division club.
However, there has been no official confirmation or completion of the deal since then. Nevertheless, it is striking that Estrela has since signed—or expressed interest in—several players with direct ties to FC Bayern.
One of the driving forces behind the project is Johannes Mösmang—who has served as FC Bayern’s integration officer for many years. Should the investor group take over the club, he could assume a management position at Estrela Amadora.
According to information from Sky, VfL Wolfsburg, SC Paderborn, and Deportivo La Coruña are also interested in Chavez. In addition, there has already been talk of a suitor from the Portuguese first division. According to FCBinside, Estrela Amadora is specifically interested in Chavez.
Loan of Felipe Chavez Planned
As things stand, Bayern does not want to sell him permanently. Rather, a loan is intended to give the attacking player as many minutes of playing time as possible at a high level. Chavez was already on loan to 1. FC Köln during the second half of last season, but made only seven brief appearances there, totaling 108 minutes.
This summer, however, the homegrown player was able to make a much stronger impression. In a 15-0 friendly win against FC Rottach-Egern, Chavez scored twice. During the club’s tour of Asia, he also scored another goal in a friendly against Jeju SK.
Despite his impressive preseason performance, the path to regular playing time with the first team is difficult given the fierce competition. That’s why club officials are working on a solution ahead of Deadline Day. Chavez is expected to take the next step in his development at a club where he’ll see significantly more playing time.
In principle, FC Bayern continues to count on the German-Peruvian player. However, there are conflicting reports regarding the exact duration of his contract. In the summer of 2025, the record champions had merely announced that Chavez had “extended his contract long-term.” While Transfermarkt.de lists the contract as running through 2027, Sky most recently reported a contract through 2028.
In any case, Chavez now has another option in Estrela Amadora. Should a loan move to Portugal actually materialize, it would further strengthen the notable connection between the club and FC Bayern.
